Mobium’s Goranson named new BMA National Chairman

2002-06-04

Incoming Business Marketing Association (BMA) International Chairman Bob Goranson states that the marketing/communications industry must recognize several profound business paradigm shifts to survive and thrive in the future. Goranson, a partner with Chicago’s Mobium Creative Group, an integrated business branding firm, was officially named Chairman today during the BMA’s 2002 Annual Conference in Kansas City, MO.

Goranson cites the impact of technology and the need to prove true ROI as the main drivers of a revolution in the business of marketing. “There has been a massive shift in not only who controls the information on a product, but also in the very nature of how these products are sold. We’ve all had to re-learn and re-think the art and science of brand marketing and marketing communications. The BMA is in a position to help our members understand the impact of these paradigm shifts and adapt to thrive in changed times,” he says.

Goranson states that his goal as Chairman will be to actually help brand the BMA itself as a valuable professional asset to its constituency as well as to untapped potential members. “By developing and delivering resources, information, connections, knowledge and peer-to-peer camaraderie, the BMA will continue to be relevant as an organization and add considerable value to its members,” he says.

Goranson has plans to make the BMA an integral part of a business marketing professionals’ career life cycle. These include:
1) Discussions with local member companies to develop a casebook of best practices applied to paradigm shifts. This information will be shared through the BMA website and presentations locally at chapter meetings and conferences.
2) Development of educational seminars that better meet the career development needs of more experienced industry veterans as well as those new to the industry.
3) A more robust BMA website that will become a virtual library of educational content and information and a link to professional resources for marketers. The site will become a true community portal for business marketing professionals.
